Tesco Superstore

The store, parking, staff are all fine but…recently they introduced a number of self service checkouts. It’s nice to have some service or you might as well shop on line. Consequently the tills are now much busier and long queues. Staff are standing around when they could open more checkouts. Eventually they do when announcement says store has closed! They could have done that 15mins earlier! Irritating.

I don't understand why they have so many surplus staff standing around gossiping. Today they had 4 groups of 3 staff standing around in different areas chatting with their phones out. I interrupted one of the group discussions for help to locate a certain common item but no one knew where it was but they did go away and come back with the answer. There were also 3 staff members manning the self service checkout and another 4 people on the regular check outs. Meanwhile Sainsbury's have no surplus staff and nobody working on the regular tills. Everyone has to use the self service checkout. I don't understand the imbalance.

Completely need to review their id procedures for alcohol buying…. I am 58 and can buy alcohol with my husband and daughter and her boyfriend who are both 20 when we visit the store together, they were not asked for ID. WHEN THEY WENT TO SHOP FOR ME, he has an ID but she doesn’t as we are on holiday and she forgot it! She has a copy of her passport on her phone, and her photo id for university which states her DOB, but apparently not good enough! When she and her boyfriend went to buy some wine for ME… they were refused rudely, saying that the ID holder was buying it for my 20 year old daughter… staff then went on to tell her and her boyfriend where they would illegally be able to buy alcohol in Chard!!!!! P.s I am disabled and they were buying for me. Please respect passport and University id on phones and the fact that two 20 year olds would probably want something stronger than a couple of bottles of Pinot Grigio!

Tonight I went to Chard Tesco and was just doing my normal shopping. It was quiet and not as busy as usual. When I walked in the Isle where the bread is I noticed two people making out kissing and doing the inappropriate. When I tried to walk by I noticed these were two tesco employees. They noticed me and seperated. Blonde girl and a brunette guy quite young in age. I get it you are young but doing things like that at the store is not normal and inappropriate. Do your job and do your private things outside of work
